this week's gift idea PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allison

I had an idea in my mind all week... and between all the craziness with the Holiday Gift Shop (contact me if you need info  10am-1pm Fri 11/14) tomorrow am and the workshop tomorrow night...and the PREMIERE of MOONFLOWERART on SAT 11/15 ,  I never actually made one. I promise I will get a photo up next week..

But I can still share the idea...

Why not fill a jar with lots of encouraging word for a loved one? This would make a perfect teacher, spouse, friend (from kid to kid too!) gift!

Image

Take a small jar like this one we used to fill with bath salts... and make strips of encouraging and loving phrases! (Or whatever else you want to write... )

Write why your teacher is special... or "favorite things!".

Type out a whole page, cut into strips Ilike fortune cookies) and roll around a knitting needle (or something else cylinder!). Then add to jar and package it with a little designer paper and a tag that says, "a little pick me up!" or "for a rainy day" - if you wrote rainy day ideas....

I plan on making one for my mom, who at times, really needs words of encouragement. She is very religious... so i plan to add a few strips of her favorite Bible verses.

Sorry again for not actually having a photo to share. I will definitely get on it!

Hope to see all my local friends at the holiday gift shop. (We will also be selling some MOONFLOWER ART items!).

Have a great weekend and hope you'll visit us on etsy on Sat!

A New Xmas card PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allison

You probably noticed already that I love BROWN! All shades of it. But by far my favorite is CHOCOLATE CHIP! it is so rich and deep! and makes for the perfect clean line cards.

here's a card I made using the new Holiday Mini set: WINTER POST.

I love how the mini paper clip enhances the "package" look. That is from the hardware CLIPS ASSORTMENT in the catalog currently.

Well. Can you believe it... my daughter is still home with the stomach bug. No not the same bug as right before Halloween... but another one that started last Fri. Different symptoms too... wow... I have been so far off schedule that when my life returns to normal... I won't know what to do with myself... I will need to re-adjust again!

Well i can only pray that she is 100% soon! Poor thing... I took a pic of her sleeping with her teddy bear (way bigger than she is) this am.

Image

the photo is grainy because the sun was just coming up and I didn't want to use flash! This teddy bear is a mom substitute! thank God for Santa... He really knew what she needed last year!

Anyway... for anyone out there who has found that your kid looks for you in the night and dreams of you sleeping there beside her... I highly recommend writing a letter to Santa this year and begging for a huge teddy! LOL

Well. hope you are all healthy out there. Keep warm. This weather is going crazy. freezing one second... warm the next! Tomorrow... a chilly almost wet day.

And hope you made your way to checking out our new MOONFLOWER ART blog (www.moonflowerart.blogspot.com) . There you will see some new creations for sale made by yours truly and my new art partner Stacie! (remember the jewelry lady?). Our store on etsy opens on NOV 15! Please visit and give us your feedback!

See ya!

Happy Clam! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allison

Happy Tuesday! Hope you got off to a great start this week. Can you belive it? It's halfway thru November... almost. With the way time is flying... it's going to be Christmas in no time!

Today I have one card and an ATC to share with you.

The card is using the same set as yesterday (CRAB & CO) . I just used the clam and raised it with a dimensional.

Image

This ATC was made using a "photo transfer" technique. (Which is this week's tutorial  - check it out now at the top link "Tutorials")

Image

for this technique to work properly you need to use either a b&w or color image printed using a laser printer or photo copies on a  no inkjet color copier . I also suspect you could use magazine pictures... i will have to try that out!

Well. I hope you like the tutorial. I will have another card to share tomorrow... as I am busily creating cards for this weekend!

Have a great day and se eyou soon!

Sandy Claws PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allison

Happy Monday Everyone!

I finally got around to mounting my new CRAB & CO stamp set... I set it in my drawer for several weeks and decided it was time for some use.

I made this xmas card - SANDY CLAWS with the holiday ribbon featured in this years mini catalog and the "cotton" oarts of the hat are made with liquid applique. That is something SU used to carry... no more... but i did see you can get it at your local fabric store... and in many different colors at that!

Anyway... I have a workshop at the end of the week and a Holiday Gift Shop on Fri morning 10am-1pm. (Marzullo's Holiday Gift Shop in Lake Linganore - contact me for directions!)  So I will be pretty crammed with work this week. Gotto get the loose ends tied up and all the errands of the week run!

Hope you have a great week. And don't forget to check out the new MOONFLOWER ART site on NOV 15. www.moonflowerart.etsy.com

Gift Idea of the week and some exicting NEWS! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allison

Well... it's the end of the week again! So Soon!

First I have the gift idea of the week to show you. This CORK BOARD HANGER is perfect for a stocking stuffer for a kids and adults alike!

I purchased a pack of 4 cork tiles at the craft store (4 for $1!!!) and added the Build  A Brads for the anchors. Then used satin ribbon for the hanger. I actually used the sewing machine to sew on the pocket! It really works!!!

Decorate it any way you want. Pocket, no pocket, glue on flowers, use thumb tacks...

I'd love to see your creations... if you make one! Please email me a pic! This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Ok... on to the EXCITING NEWS!

Remember a while ago I told you about my friend Stacie Spencer? She's the one who makes wearable art silver jewelry...

Well she and I have decided to join forces and start a store together...

MOONFLOWER ART!

 Image

We open online on SATURDAY, NOV. 15! - www.moonflowerart.etsy.com !

I still have my etsy store (allisonpapercrafts.etsy.com ) and Stacie will maintain her jewelry site (www.staciejewelry.etsy.com )... and together we own www.moonflowerart.etsy.com!

We will also be blogging along the way at www.moonflowerart.blogspot.com

At MoonFlowerArt we will be featuring tons of different products! From collage art to specialty magnets... beaded jewelry to mixed metal belt buckles! The concept of Moonflower is to make products we love that don't necessarily blend with our current stores.  So one day you may see collaged lightswitch plate covers and keychains... and other days you may see bookmarks and t-shirts!

There's going to be great holiday gift items as well as gift wrap options and ship direct to recipient features!

Starting this Saturday we will have a countdown on our blog giving sneak peeks at some of the goodies we have ready for sale! So please visit us starting this Saturday on our blog and Next Saturday for the Grand Opening to take a look around!

Well that's it for now! See you soon!
