Layering Vellum 5/14/08 PDF Print E-mail

Vellum can add so much to your cards and scrap pages. Why not tear them and layer them to make a snowy scene or grassy hills?

cut two pieces of vellum same width. Here I will use the girl in between the two layers.

tear both pieces. I tear one piece higher on the left side and the other piece higher on the right side.

I cut out the girl to place between the layers.

here i am using crystal effects glue (very strong when dry) and green micro beads (teeny tiny glass beads)

Image
using a paintbrush or q-tip apply small wisps of crystal effects glue along the edge of each torn vellum piece.
Add the micro beads by gently dipping the vellum edge into the beads.

here's a cloer view of one of the edges.

layer the two pieces together and place the image between. adhere to card and add sentiment. (I used dimensionals to adhere the girl so there is even more depth)

All Done!
You can try using chalk instead of beads, or just leave it alone (I do that for wedding cards).  You can also use water color crayons, color pencils and sponge on ink along the edges!

Thanks, Allison! What do you use to adhere the vellum to the card. Some glues really show through...

Hi Kim!
I use mini glue dots fo rthe most part. I also have used VELLUM ADHESIVE on occasion. It works only if used perfectly.
Thanks!
Allison
