CD HOLDER (like pg 49 in Spring/Summer Collection 2008 catalog).
supplies needed: 11"x6" card stock (So Saffron here), paper trimmer with scoring blade, whisper white cardstock scrap, certainly celery card stock piece, pretty in pink cardstock piece, ink pads (pretty in pink, certainly celery, so saffron - I did not show them in the photo), paper snips, soft subtles brads, piercing tool (not shown here), 1 and 3/8" circle punch (not shown), 15" of 3/8" grosgrain ribbon (celery here), snail adhesive, sticky strip (not shown), stamp set (Simply Said here), dimensionals.
placing the 11"x6" cardstock horizontally , start by scoring the cardstock at 5" and 11"
turn the cardstock vertically and score at 1"
cut out the upper right hand square and cut a slit at the center score line. (just 1" in)
cut angles at every corner.
fold in at the score marks and adhere sticky strip to the areas shown. 2 places.
take off the red backing from the sticky strips and fold the cardstock in half at the score mark. This will finish the base of the cd holder. using 1 and 3/8 circle punch and punch a semi circle out of the opening. here's the view with the cd in it.
cut whisper white card stock to 2"x5" and decorate. Cut Celery piece to 1.5"x5" strip. use snail adhesive to stick those together as shown. adhere to cd holder. Then wrap the ribbon around and tie. 15" is JUST ENOUGH. If you need extra space you will need to cut your ribbon at about 17".
enbellish rest of card and use dimensionals under the heart and bigger flower. Also add the pink brad using a piercing tool. This is the finished product. Close to the original!
TIPS. I think next time I would embellish the front first (everything but the ribbon) before assembling the holder. Makes for easier brad placement. ALSO, the photo above shows a piece of regular scotch tape covering the brad prongs. I did this so it would not scratch the cd!
