Here's one for FAUX SPECKLING!

I learned this great technique from Kurtis (StampinKub!)

Image

supplies: SU reinker in any (darker) color, stamps (Eat cake used here), plastic container, post it notes, stipple brushes (found on page 185 Spring/Summer 2008 Catty)

 Image

drop a few drops of your ink refill into your plastic container.

Image

first stamp a sample of your image onto the post it note. and cut out the portion of the "mask" where you want the speckling to go. Then ink your stamp image (I used markering technique so I could have 2 colors - marker directly on stamp with brush side of marker).

Image

pounce your stipple brush tip a few times into the ink.

Image

once you mask your stamp (so you don't get the wood messy), scrape the bristles of your inked stipple brush against the side of the plastic container. The ink will "splatter" onto the stamp.

 Image

huff (breathe) onto the stamp (it may have started to dry). Then stamp your image onto the cardstock.

finished image!

try this technique directly onto cardstock for great layers and bases!
